Curriculum Statement
In the Maths department, we promote and encourage high expectations for our students in numerical achievement. We deliver an outstanding, personalised curriculum, supported by the use of manipulatives which is designed to encourage mutual respect, resilience and knowledge, to enable our students to be equipped with the skills and experiences needed to embrace life opportunities.
Intent
- Our intent at the Maths department in KS3 is for all children to achieve Level 2 Functional Skills by the end of Year 8
- Staff are to use more manipulatives and creative ideas when teaching and supporting to ensure engagement
- We want staff to be more confident in using Mathematical language in all subject areas
Implementation
- By implementing a rich and relevant curriculum, tailored to individual learning need
- Interventions in place to support underachieving students
- Delivery of relevant CPDs i.e.; using manipulatives, numeracy across the curriculum and using mathematical language
- Create and embed a Maths Working Party to discuss/implement ideas
Impact
- The intended impact of the Mathematics department is that 100% of our students achieve Entry level 1 Maths qualification and % achieve Entry level 2 functional Maths qualification
