A warm welcome to Candy Keast, Art Therapist and Kate Grace, Music Therapist, who have joined the Bromley Beacon Academy Orpington therapy department.
Candy and Kate work with students both individually and in groups to offer a space where children can communicate and express themselves, their thoughts and feelings using creativity. This added capacity allows us to offer a therapy space during the academic year to all students.
“It has been fantastic to join the therapy team and begin work with the students at BBAO. Music therapy at BBAO offers students a chance to explore and express themselves through music, particularly useful if finding words is difficult. Music therapy uses a mixture of structured and child-led, creative activities, supporting a child in many aspects of emotional, cognitive and physical development. In this way, we can continue to support students through their BBAO journey, helping each child to reach their full potential in their relationships, emotional well-being, communication, attention and play.”
