School Open from Monday 23 March 2020
As you will be aware, the Prime Minister announced last night that the majority of schools are to close tomorrow – Friday 20 March – to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.
However, the Government has said that schools must remain partially open for specific groups of children, including those with EHCPs, those with social workers and those with parents who are key workers.
We have made the decision that our schools will remain open to ALL students with the following points being adhered to if they are to attend:
- Students will attend from 8.45am to 3.00pm. There is no facility for ‘drop in’ sessions and students will be sent back home if they do not attend at the correct times
- They will be in full school uniform
- They will follow normal school rules at all times
- School meals will be provided as per normal arrangements
- If they have self-isolated prior to Monday 23rd March then they must adhere to the 14 day quarantine ruling before returning to school. If they attend before this time then sadly we will have to send them back home to health and safety of other students and staff
- Due to the need for all staff and students to be able to follow Government guidelines to ‘social distance’ if a restraint is required or if behaviour is building towards a restraint the students’ parents/carers will be contacted and immediate collection will be expected. If this were to become a regular occurrence the school would make the decision on whether the child’s place is secure during this time.
We will be contacting ALL parents on a daily basis over the next two week period to check on the wellbeing of your child. If there are any issues then please ensure these are passed on to the member of staff who contacts you.
This is a challenging time for us all here at Bromley Beacon Academy, Orpington and London South East Academies Trust, but our priority continues to be the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of all our staff and children.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you as parents/ carers for your ongoing support and for bearing with us as we face this difficult situation.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or concerns. We will provide further updates as soon as possible.
I wish you and your loved ones good health at this time
With kind regards,
Head of School
